mistakes…

In March 2015, I began my journey to getting waves. During these years, I have made plenty of mistakes that I can learn from. I just noticed the other day that I missed March 2025 marked 10 years of me having waves. I started knowing nothing and now I can pretty much say I’m a master of waves. But I’ve really learned a lot about waves and still there’s more to learn. In this post, I’ll share a couple things that have came to mind about some of the things I can improve on or if I could go back to improve on.
Recently, I cut my hair down after a wolf I lost count of. I believe the last time I actually cut my hair was December 2024. Yesterday I cut my hair again for the first time since December last year. So that’s been 4 months of wolfing….Wolfing is when you basically grow your hair for an extended amount of time while maintaining your waves to better them for a haircut. I didn’t realize I wolfed that long until the other day I believe a couple days before I cut it. This used to never happen when I started in 2015 I had reminders every week to keep me on track. But since I’ve been doing this for so long I guess I lost track of time. I still did a good job of maintaining it.
But I can remember days that it got tough throughout this wolf. Around the beginning of March, I was thinking about starting over or trying a whole new hairstyle. I was doing a wash n style one day and instead of going back with the grain of my pattern I was thinking about just keeping it against the grain really because my hair had started to get harder to maintain. I’ve had plenty of days like this but I was really tired and wanted to go with something different at the time. I could have but I was really giving up. But I knew I could fix it if I could get finished with my wash n style which I did. Later that week, I ended up giving myself a trim not a haircut afterwards which I maintained until the end of March.
Now in April, I realized how easy it is to get off track. One thing, I want to do better with before I scalp or try a new style is be consistent again. Like keeping up with my wolf so I don’t overwolf. If I cut my hair today I want to know that in 4 weeks I want to consider cutting down my wolf. Also, I want to focus on weak areas that I rarely focused on. There are so many things I want to improve on but really I just want to cut down on things to focus on what’s best. Everything, I did in the past wasn’t perfect but it was fresh. I probably will never need to set reminders of wolfing or do most of the things I did. I can refresh my memory on the things that did and didn’t work. These 10 years have went by quickly. I wanted to take time to think about everything I’ve learned and appreciate the journey.
